Happy Birthday Jack Kirby! Process & Inspiration
Join me as I celebrate what would have been the 106th Birthday of Jack Kirby, the King of Comics. Jack's life story is the life story of the American comic from the Golden Age of the 40’s to the Image Revolution of the 90’s. It is a story of triumphs and tragedies of one of the most influential artists in American comics of the 20th Century. Influences felt even today with last 20 years of superhero movies and television.
To celebrate the work of this artistic great and to help hone my skills, on my journey as a cartoonist, I created this piece. Titled “Jack Kirby Gods and Monsters”, I composed it of penciled pieces by Jack Kirby scanned from the internet and collated together into a mural. I digitally finished it in Adobe Fresco using G-Pen Vector Brush and KirbyKrackle brush.
Thanks to all of those who have liked the work so far and welcome to any new readers. If you like this series and wish to help me keep it going you can make a one time donation at the Ko-Fi site or purchase Merch at my Red Bubble store. Also make sure to follow my YouTube channel. I post a weekly speed drawing and art process video where I provide a behind the scenes of the making of each week's comic strip.
